KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on Monday launched the second phase of a project that seeks to reduce gender-based violence and discrimination against women and girls in two provinces. The project is launched in coordination with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens (MoWCSC) and relevant provincial and local authorities, according to a press statement issued by the UNFPA.

Civil society groups, informal social media groupings and several other networks launched awareness and pressure campaigns aimed at sensitizing the public about violence against women and girls.
