Gaurika: Tale of love and sorrows

Reading Chandra Kumar Phuyal’s recently published novel Gaurika was a wonderful experience.  In 136 pages, the story of this novel depicts a burning contemporary social issue widely prevalent in Nepali society. The novel throws light on the life of Nepali people in hilly villages—the youths leaving homes for the Gulf countries for tough and risky jobs, families facing troubles back home, and some notable reparations and reunions in the end.

KATHMANDU, June 6: Olympian Gaurika Singh, who represented departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club, won eight gold medals in the recently-concluded 22nd Open National Swimming Competition that was organized by Nepal Swimming Association from June 3 to 4.

KATHMANDU, Aug 1: Gaurika Singh, who broke Nepal’s medal drought in international swimming in individual event during the 12th South Asian Games in February, will join Nepal’s swimming team in Rio.

KATHMANDU, July 13: Swimmers Sirish Gurung and Gaurika Singh have secured places for Rio Olympics 2016 to be held from August 5-21.
