KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Sugarcane producing farmers are unhappy with the new floor price of sugar determined by the government. They have maintained that the new price is unable to give them respite as they have been facing soaring costs of production.

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The government has failed to fix the minimum support price of sugarcane despite the harvesting season of the farm product reaching its end for this year.

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Sugar mills have raised the factory price of sugar by Rs 2 per kg, arguing that the government recently revised the floor price of sugarcane for the farmers.

KATHMANDU, Dec 12:  The government has fixed the minimum support price of sugarcane at Rs 544.33 per quintal for the harvest of this season. The government’s new price however has failed to please sugarcane producing farmers, according to whom the new rate cannot cover the escalating cost of production.
