BUTUWAL, Oct 27: Much to the delight of the locals of Butwal, new tracks were opened almost everywhere in the villages and towns in the last few years. Many were even blacktopped. However, the 'signs' of development has started to irk the public now, thanks to the fast deteriorating routes. Potholes are seen in almost all the roads and they have turned into deathtraps, they complain. Let alone in the rainy season, the roads are hardly in good condition even in winter.

KHOTANG, Oct 6: Locals and travelers traveling along the border of Khotang and Okhaldhunga districts are forced to risk their lives as they have to pass through a dilapidated suspension bridge.

ILLAM, May 2: The indifference of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) toward proper maintenance of electricity poles and wires has put people in dozens of villages in Ilam district in a great risk.

DOTI, July 14: Most of the health posts in Doti district are in such dilapidated conditions that when it starts to rain, it immediately starts dripping from their roof and when it sunny, the heat inside the building is unbearable.

ILAM, June 7: Thirteen inmates in Jhapa district prison recently fell unconscious due to scorching heat. They regained consciousness only after prison staffs and other inmate sprinkled water and fanned them with paper. These are common problem for the prison’s staff and its inmates during hot days.
