While the general expectation was that the government would correct the controversial decision to extend the lease period of Yeti Holdings to operate Gokarna Forest Resort and that it would direct the authorities to investigate the case, Prime Minister K P Oli has instead stood strongly in defense of the controversial decision.

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: At least three umbrella organizations in the tourism sector have come out with statements concerning the government’s controversial decision to extend the lease of Gokarna Forest Resort, which is owned by Yeti Holdings, for another 25 years. The statements of all three organizations – Nepal Mountaineering Association, Everest Sumitters’ Association and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents – is almost the same.

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Ruling and opposition party MPs have demanded that the government clarify to parliament its controversial decision to extend the lease for Gokarna Forest Resort to the Yeti Group six years prior to the expiry of the current lease.
