KATHMANDU, March 18: Efforts to choose a name for Province 2 and a capital failed on Tuesday after the ruling coalition failed to garner the required two-thirds majority. Province 2, which covers eight districts of southern Nepal bordering India, has long been struggling to name itself and fix its capital.

MAKAWANPUR, Jan 5: Amid dissatisfaction expressed by lawmakers of both the ruling and the opposition parties over the directive made by Kathmandu about the name and capital city of Province 3, both ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have intensified internal discussions to fix the permanent capital of the province.
