KATHMANDU, Feb 13: With the retirement of Deep Basnyat, head of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the constitutional anti-graft agency is now left with only four members. Basnyat, 65, retired on age ground on Monday.

Shan Basnyat is one of the pioneers in the field of scriptwriting. He did a diploma in Hotel Management from Singapore in 2008, but his career took a turn when he joined a six-month course on Journalism at Media Point, Banasthali. His career as a scriptwriter started with a social thriller film ‘Vigilante 3D’. Moreover, his scriptwriting can also be seen in popular films like ‘Jholey’, ‘Punte Parade’, ‘How Funny’ and ‘Chapali Height 2’. Shan is currently engaged as a creative director in a celebrity reality show, slated to be aired soon.

KATHMANDU, May 22: Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli, in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, administered oath of office and secrecy to Deep Basnyat as the Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and to Tankamani Sharma Dangal as the Auditor General amidst a ceremony at the Office of President, Shital Niwas on Monday.

KATHMANDU, May 22: The Parliamentary Hearings Special Committee (PHSC) on Sunday endorsed a government decision to appoint Deep Basnyat as chief commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

KATHMANDU, May 2: The Constitutional Council has recommended acting Chief Commissioner of CIAA Deep Basnyat as the head of the anti-graft body.

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Following the suspension of Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki, CIAA Commissioner Deep Basnyat has been appointed as the acting chief commissioner of the anti-graft body on Thursday. Karki was suspended after an impeachment motion was registered against him on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Deep Basnyat, Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), now works as the Acting Chief Commissioner, following the registration of an impeachment motion against its Chief Lokman Singh Karki at the Legislature-Parliament.
