JALESHWOR, Nov 16: As four days remain to celebrate the Chhath festival, the Dom community is already in a joyous mood. People of the economically backward Dom community in the district are now busy weaving different bamboo wares like dalo, nanglo and talu tapari.

NAWALPARASI, June 13 : A woman has died after falling off the bamboo bush following a strong wind coupled with rainfall occurred on Tuesday evening in West Nawalparasi.

JANAKPUR, Dec27: The locals of Churefed in Dhanusha have discovered a new source of income from the sale of handicrafts made of bamboo. The Local Development Trust trained as many as 157 people from eight local communities for the same.

A delightful dining experience Bamboo Restro is located on Basantapur Durbar Square, and came into operation only three months ago. The restaurant boasts a stylistic decoration, with one having to climb about fifteen narrow steps before they reach the main entrance a floor above. The entrance is decorated with bamboos — hence the name — and green lights that demonstrate the organizers’ fascination for the color.

BAJHANG, Oct 29: Jay Bahadur Bohora of Lataun village used to make good money by selling bamboo made items. Since last few years, his bamboo baskets are not much in demand. People have started to store grains and goods rather in tin boxes and plastic bags are preferred as goods carriers. Bohora laments that the traditional occupation is under threat.
