Tuberculosis still kills 16,000 people a year in Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 24: Every year, 16,000 people die of tuberculosis in the country, according to the National Tuberculosis Control Center (NTCC). The number of new TB patients has reached 69,000 this year and the number is likely to increase further.

A story of some Nepali youth who got infected with tuberculosis (TB), which was once called ‘the white plague’, at a young age, and after winning the battle against the disease with the right treatment, have been campaigning for its prevention, testing and treatment with the goal of eradicating it from the country by 2035.
