KATHMANDU, July 12: Member of the National Assembly Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa Parvati has said that the Nepali language should be used in the question papers of the examinations conducted by Tribhuvan University.

BIRENDRANAGAR, Aug 20: The provincial government of Karnali has launched a campaign to replace tuins (makeshift cable crossings) with suspension bridges in the province.

GORKHA, March 24: As soon as he assumed office in September 2015, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli made a promise to replace all the improvised cable crossings known as tuin in the country would be replaced with suspension bridges. He said that tuins, which putt people’s lives at risk, would become extinct within two years.

One of the first promises K P Sharma Oli made when he became the prime minister for the first time in October, 2015 was related to replacing tuins—the dangerous crossings over the rivers made of some combination of iron wires—with suspension bridges.

Many people in Jumla and neighboring districts have lost their lives trying to use these primitive facilities. They have no choice but to continue using them for the sake of some mobility.

DHANGADHI, July 20Six days ago, two girls went missing after attempting to cross the Bahuli River through a makeshift bridge made of wooden logs, locally known as Sanghu. Bimala Kumari Bohora, 15, and Rinu Kumari Bohora, 9, of Surma Rural Municipality-2 were returning home from school when they got swept away by the river.

DHANGADHI/BAJHANG, May 26: In October 2015, while assuming office as the prime minister for the first time, Prime Minister KP Oli had signed a project to replace the 384 cable crossings, locally known as tuins, across the country, with suspension bridges.

DHADING, May 21: Roaring Trishuli River has sent shivers down his spine several times while crossing the river. Many a times, he even had nightmares in which he trips off the tuin (a makeshift cable crossing) and drowns in the river. Despite such fears, there was no option other than to use the tuin to cross the river for Ram Sharan Sedhai and his fellow villagers of the Siddhalek village.

DARCHULA, Oct 4: People falling down from ropeway into the Mahakali River and drowning is no more a news for Darchula locals. Every year they lose their village folks to the perilous journey.
