SIMKOT (HUMLA): A man has gone missing in the Karnali River since Saturday evening after a tuin (improvised cable crossing) he was using to cross the river snapped.

DHANGADI/BAITADI/DARCHULA: Sachin Budhathoki, 18, went missing after falling into the Mahakali River at Gothal Ghat in Dumling on Wednesday while trying to cross the river via a Tuin (improvised cable crossing). A search for him is on. Budhathoki has gone missing after the cable crossing snapped and he fell into the river on Wednesday while he was returning to Nepal from India with some belongings.

KATHMANDU, Sept 7:  The government has sent a diplomatic note to India regarding the disappearance of Jaya Singh Dhami of Darchula in the Mahakali River. Dhami, a Nepali national went missing after falling into the Mahakali River on July 30 when the SSB personnel cut the cable bridge, also known as Tuin.

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Locals in Shiwalaya Rural Municipality in the western part of Jajarkot district have no other choices except for making a perilous journey in tuin (rope bridge) over the Chedgada River to travel to nearby village Karki Gaun at Chedgaad Municipality in the district for years.

HUMLA, March 27: Humla residents continue to risk life while crossing rivers in lack of safer bridges. They still depend on risky tuins (a makeshift cable crossing) to cross rivers and reach their destinations.

TANAHUN, March 6: Even two years after the government announced to replace improvised cable crossings known as tuin with suspension bridges, the locals of Tanahun are still found crossing the Seti River precariously using tuin.
