Aluminum and steel are used as alternatives to timber. On the contrary, timber worth hundreds of thousands of rupees is found rotting in the forests of Nepal.

Timber Corporation of Nepal (TCN) has said that it has no stock of long timber logs to provide for reconstruction of heritage sites damaged by the 2015 earthquake.
