Nepal’s trade deficit with China widens

KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Nepal has not been able to benefit from trade with its northern neighbor China, which has the second largest economy in the world. Since China does not prioritize trade with Nepal, the trade deficit with China is deepening.

KATHMANDU, May 20: The government has announced various programs to promote the use of indigenous products. Through policies and programs, the government is going to identify industries that can produce goods and services that can be self-sufficient and make policy arrangements for the development and stability of such industries.

Bhairahawa SEZ lacks key infrastructure

BUTWAL, Feb 9: The first Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of the country in Bhairahawa has completed 18 years but it still lacks required infrastructure. It has been six years since the Bhairahawa SEZ started its operation but one-door service is yet to be implemented. It has also failed to attract domestic and international investors as expected.

Call to remove minimum export threshold

BHAIRAHAWA, Feb 3: Local industrialists have suggested authorities concerned to remove minimum export threshold for attracting industrial units inside Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Bhairahawa.

BUTWAL, Feb 1: Three years have already passed since the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Bhairahawa has been involved in trying to complete the tender procedure for the electric sub-station. In 2016, during the second inauguration of  the SEZ, former executive director Chandrika Prasad Bhatta had committed to complete the tender procedure within six months and construct the 33 KV sub-station in a year and half.
