Being from the clan who gives life to clay in forms of vessels, it won’t be wrong to say that creativity is in his blood. He is a multifaceted artist who is also active in acting and is involved in local traditional mask dance as Devgan (masked dancer) during festivities. However, he is in love with painting and in water color medium.

It took him around six months to complete this painting. Using oil color medium, he has painstakingly worked on it and the result is mesmerizing.

For him creating paubha painting is his way of letting the world know about the country’s culture and tradition. He said, “We use various religious motifs of gods and goddess from Lichchhavi and Malla era, which is unique in themselves and are the source of our identity. Youngsters like me should be involved in traditional paubha painting because there is so much in it that is yet to be revealed. ”

They chose film making as a tool to express their thoughts and they also realized that film is a strong medium to convey the same.

“During my childhood days, I always wanted to be like a girl. And I used to wear my mother’s scarf and acted like a girl. While growing up, I was beaten up for behaving in such manner. Meanwhile, I had no idea why I was like that who wanted to look like a female and why I was attracted to male, being a male,” expressed Alisha, 17-year-old transgender.

Sanokaji Maharjan would throw love notes to Rupa Bista (Maharjan) to express his feelings. Now, the couple has been married for 27 years. However, the first three years of their marriage wasn’t easy. Maharjan’s family didn’t approve of the inter-caste marriage, and the groom lacked work skills.

Dal Bahadur Gandharva is a Kathmandu immigrant from Chitwan. He has been selling bead necklaces at Basantapur since he first arrived at Kathmandu, 35 years ago. Gandharva is grateful for the second chance that life gave him; he had narrowly escaped death during the 2015 earthquake.
