For long, Baisakh has become a cruel month for parents who want to admit their children in schools for new academic session. Monthly and admission fees scare them off. Some schools in Kathmandu and out of the valley are charging exorbitantly high amount—as much as Rs 40,000 per month in monthly fees.

KATHMANDU, April 11: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has set standards for the private schools operating within its jurisdiction. According to the new standards, the fee structure fixed for the new academic year is 27 percent higher than that of the last year.

Since some of these students do not attend the school regulary, only five or six students are present in their classes on an average. There are three temporary teachers, one assistant teacher, one permanent teacher, and a peon at the school.
