KATHMANDU, July 15: Stocks opened Thursday’s session in green as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index added 10 points in the pre-open session. Stocks saw some selling pressure in the morning but the bourse managed to hover more than 5 points higher. Following a sharp move up towards 2,890 level, the index saw another pullback. Eventually, Nepse ended the day 11.33 points higher at 2,883.38.

KATHMANDU, July 12: Nepse registered a positive start to Monday’s session with the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index opening almost 30 points higher. The index pulled back slightly to trade along with the opening level throughout the beginning trading hour. However, selling pressure prevailed with the index plunging more than 50 points in late afternoon following the supreme court’s direction to reinstate the parliament. Consequently, investors took a defensive approach with the immediate political outlook remaining unclear, refraining from taking any major long positions. At the close, Nepse fell 44.98 points to end the session at 2,854.84.

KATHMANDU, July 5: Stocks remained under pressure throughout the session despite a higher open on Monday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell more than 10 points in the morning before clawing its way back towards the opening level at mid-day. However, with modest buying interest seen in almost all of the sectors, stocks remained in negative territory throughout the latter trading hours. At the close, Nepse posted a loss of 11.78 points to end at 2,822.74.

KATHMANDU, July 2: Local stocks opened week on a positive note as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index recouped 27.18 points on Sunday, following a loss of more than 125 points in the week earlier. Monday saw a modest gain of 5.32 points, while Tuesday witnessed continuation of correction. In Tuesday’s session the benchmark plunged 47.5 points, followed by a 4.12 point’s decline on Wednesday. However, ending week on a slightly upbeat note, the benchmark index rose 19.12 points to recoup losses from the prior sessions of the week. Eventually, Nepse ended the week unchanged at 2,843.

KATHMANDU, June 29: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) opened slightly higher and traded flat in the beginning trading hour. Stocks fell slightly at mid-day before making a modest recovery. However, stocks continued to remain under pressure as the bourse saw a steady decline till Tuesday’s close. Nepse ended the day with a 47.50-point dip at 2,828.

KATHMANDU, June 24: Despite a higher opening, the Nepalese stock market’s benchmark fell steeply in the first few minutes of trading. Stocks saw choppy trading thereafter and showed a lack of direction but traded mainly in negative territory. A surge in the afternoon pushed the index around 15 points higher but the advance was short-lived with the index pulling back in the closing hour. Nepse finished Thursday’s trading 16.96 points lower at 2,843.

KATHMANDU, May 12: After opening more than 10 points higher, a correction in the beginning trading hour pushed the Nepal Stock Exchange(Nepse) index slightly below the opening level at mid-day. Stocks recovered in the afternoon and hovered around the opening level in the latter part of the session. At the close, Nepse ended little changed with a gain of 0.56 points at 2,673.88.

KATHMANDU, May 7: The equity market staged a notable recovery in the first trading day of the week. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shot up by more than 54 points on Sunday. Stocks pared some of the gains on Monday with the market shedding 12.36 points in the session. After a marginal advance of 1.94 points on Tuesday, stocks continued to see modest movements in the latter half of the week. The benchmark fell 5.09 points on Wednesday, followed by a 12.47-point dip on Thursday. Despite recent losses, the equity market managed to close the review period with a 26.02 points or 1% gain at 2,637.13.

KATHMANDU, May 6: Stocks opened Thursday’s session in green but gave up early gains quickly as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell around 18 points in the morning. A recovery pushed the index close to the opening mark, but the market failed to climb towards positive territory. Stocks came under some pressure thereafter with the Nepse closing session at 2,637.13 – down 12.47 points against Wednesday’s close.

KATHMANDU, May 3: The stock market opened Sunday’s trading in green before a small correction pulled the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index towards the opening level. However, stocks saw strength in the latter trading hours. The benchmark traded around 30 points higher at mid-day, with a subsequent rally pushing the index further up at the close. Nepse ended Sunday’s trading at 2,665.11.

KATHMANDU, April 26: Stocks came under pressure since the beginning of Monday’s trading session. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell around 56 points in the morning before recovering slightly. However, equities continued to falter further in the latter trading hours. At the close, Nepse finished 65.58 points lower at 2,506.62.

Nepse sheds 32 points

KATHMANDU, April 21: The equity market witnessed selling pressure throughout Wednesday’s session. After opening higher in the preopening session, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pulled back to trade in red with the beginning of the trading session. Stocks struggled further in the afternoon as the benchmark closed the day 32.41 points lower at 2,632.21.

KATHMANDU, April 20: The equity market started the exchange on a lower note and lost 14 points within half an hour of trading. Nonetheless, the market recovered and managed to trade on the positive side of the spectrum. But again the market pulled the index towards red in mid-day. At the end, the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed the volatile trading session with a modest gain of 2.68 points gain at 2664.62.

KATHMANDU, April 19: The Nepalese equity market opened Monday’s session in red and gave up almost 27 points in half of the trading session. Nonetheless, the market immediately recover its earlier losses and traded on a positive note within the first trading hour. However, the market continued to lose its momentum and traded on a negative note in the remaining session. In the end, the benchmark index close with a loss of 37.58 points at 2661.94.

Nepse posts 61-points weekly gain

KATHMANDU, April 16: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index opened trading on Monday where it gain 17.2 points. Similarly, the local stock market continued to saw considerable strength on Tuesday followed by a gain of 23.23 points. The stock market remained closed on Wednesday due to Nepalese New Year. The index extended gains on Thursday with another 20.61 point rise. Overall, the benchmark index added 61.04 points or 2.28% to end the review period at 2,735.40.

KATHMANDU, April 15: The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) opened in green note and rose 39 points till mid-day. Then after the equity market witnessed some correction but still managed to trade in positive side of spectrum for the rest of the session. At the close, Nepse went up by 20.61 points on the first trading day of the year to close at all-time high of 2735.40.

KATHMANDU, April 7: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index traded in the green in the morning before dropping towards red briefly at mid-day. The benchmark saw a recovery in the afternoon pushing the index over 2,690. However, profit-booking in stocks pulled the bourse towards negative territory with the index closing Wednesday’s session at 2,671.62 – down 2.85 points against the previous close.

KATHMANDU, April 6: The equity market opened 20 points high in the preopening session but immediately pulled backed to trade in the red. Nonetheless, the market succeeded to recover within 15 minutes of trading, and the index traded flat till mid-day.  Likewise, the market maintained its footing in green in the last trading session.  At the close, Nepse settled at 2,674.47 – up 15.72 points against the session earlier

At the close of the session, Nepse closed a little changed at 2,658.75 – up 1.13 points against the previous close.

KATHMANDU, April 2: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index opened trading on Monday where it lost a modest 5.45 points. However, the local stock market saw considerable strength in the latter three trading days of the week. The benchmark climbed 32.14 points on Tuesday followed by a gain of 43.37 points on Wednesday. The buying momentum lost some steam in the last trading day of the week but managed to close in green. The index rose 12.87 points higher on Thursday. Overall, the index gathered a total of 82.93 points or 3.25% ending week at 2,631.90.

KATHMANDU, March 31: Stocks opened in green on Wednesday and continued to trade in green throughout the trading session. After climbing over 2,600 line, the Nepse index hovered around 2,610 in the afternoon. However, a surge in the final trading hour, saw the index close with a gain of 43.36 points to settle at 2,619.03.

KATHMANDU, March 30: The equity market opened in green and hovered around 2,560 mark for most of the beginning trading hours. The index saw further strength in the second half of the trading session with another upbeat advance. At the close, Nepse registered a gain of 32.15 points to settle at 2,5775.67.

KATHMANDU, March 29: The Nepalese share market opened Monday’s session in green and maintained positive bias in the morning. However, selling pressure at mid-day dragged the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index more than 10 points lower. The index recouped the losses partially in the latter half of the session and closed at 2,543.52 – down 5.45 points against the session earlier.

KATHMANDU, March 26: Stocks witnessed a massive surge in the beginning of the week as the Nepalese share market’s benchmark shot up by 63.38 points on Sunday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pulled back on Monday and fell 24.07 points. Further strength ensued as the index rose 14.55 points and 41.3 points on Tuesday and Wednesday. The index saw some correction on the last trading day of the week with a decline of 21.28 points on Thursday. Overall, the gain tally for the week stood at 73.88 points or 2.98% with Nepse ending at 2,548.97.

KATHMANDU, March 25: Stocks opened Thursday’s session in green but gave up gains in the latter hours. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) traded flat in the afternoon before the selling pressure dragged the benchmark lower. A decline in the closing half of the session pulled the benchmark 21.29 points lower to settle at 2,548.97.

KATHMANDU, March 22: Despite opening Monday’s trading in the green, the Nepalese equity market gave up morning gains to trade in negative territory throughout the session. The equity index fell sharply in the first half an hour but managed to make a brief recovery. However, the benchmark remained under pressure after mid-day finally ending the session 24.06 points lower against Sunday’s close. The Nepse index finished at 2,514.40.

KATHMANDU, March 7: The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index opened in the green note in the pre-opening session, but the index pulled back to trade in the negative territory within few minutes of trading session. Although the market tried to recoup its losses within half an hour of trading, but again the index struggled and traded in the negative bias for most of the trading session. At the end, the equity index closed the day 21.58 points lower at 2485.10.

Nepse climbs higher, but volumes dip

KATHMANDU, Feb: Despite opening Wednesday’s session in green, the index fell in the morning and traded briefly in red. However, with bank stocks seeing upbeat movement, the market traded in positive territory throughout the afternoon. At the close, Nepse ended 9.94 points higher at 2,611.45.

KATHMANDU, Feb 16: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index opened in green and traded over 29 points higher in morning and continued to maintain in the positive territory for most of the trading session. However, the index pulled back in negative side with a meager decrement towards the last trading hour. Nonetheless, the benchmark index quickly recovered and ended the day 15.50 points higher at 2601.51 points.

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: The benchmark index opened Wednesday’s session higher, but a sharp correction dragged Nepse more than 20 points lower in the morning. A recovery followed suit where the index recouped all of its morning losses. The index, thereafter, traded flat along the opening level for most of the afternoon finally ending the day with a modest gain. Nepse ended trading at 2,543.03 – up 8.66 points against the session earlier.

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Strength from the prior trading session carried over to Wednesday as stocks traded firmly higher in the morning. Nepse traded over 2,500 briefly in the morning, touching the uncharted mark for the first time in history. Nonetheless, some selling pressure was evident thereafter. After pulling back below 2,500 level, the index fell further towards the close. At Wednesday’s close, Nepse ended at 2,466.92 – down a modest 6.81 points against the session earlier.

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: After opening Wednesday’s session in green, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pulled back in the morning to trade in red briefly before mid-day. The benchmark staged a recovery in the afternoon advancing as high as 2,450 mark. The index retraced slightly thereafter and closed trading session 18.76 points higher at 2,441.85.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: After opening the day around 30 points higher, the local equity market benchmark witnessed correction amidst active profit booking. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index traded 20 points higher at mid-day but experienced a steady decline in the afternoon trading hours. After trading in red briefly in the final hour, a recovery at the end saw Nepse close with a 3.70 gain at 2,239.43.

At the close, Nepse registered a gain of 25.21 points to end the last trading session of the year 2020 at 2,087.28.

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losses from the week earlier fueled by the political turmoil on Sunday. The benchmark tanked almost 100 points in Sunday’s session but the stock market found a firm footing after witnessing a sharp rebound on Monday. After falling almost 60 points, the index ended Monday with a 30-point advance. The strength carried over to Tuesday’s trading with the index rallying over 95 points. The momentum subsided slightly as the market witnessed a gain of seven points on Wednesday followed by a 30 point’s decline on Thursday. Consequently, the index registered a weekly gain of 6.11 or 0.30% points to settle at 2038.63.

KATHMANDU, Dec 24: After opening Thursday’s session in the green, the local equity market cut its gains quickly to trade in the negative territory within the first trading hour. Thereafter, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index remained under the opening level and witnessed a steady decline to close trading at 2,038.63 – down 29.83 points against Wednesday’s close.

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: The local share market opened Wednesday’s trading in an upbeat note climbing over 2,100’s level in the morning. The index retraced sharply within the beginning trading hour and hovered around 2,100 mark at mid-day. Stocks saw further decline in the latter trading hours pushing the benchmark towards the opening level. At the close, Nepse stood at 2,068.46 – up a modest 7.04 points against the session earlier.
