KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The progress of road projects listed under the national pride project has been observed to be sluggish during the first six months of the current fiscal year. There are only seven road projects designated as national pride projects, but the physical advancement of all these projects has been slow.

SURKHET, Feb 22: The National Pride Project, Bheri-Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project has completed 40% of the construction work. The construction project was started from 2004 to divert the water of Bheri River to Babai and provide irrigation facility to 52,000 hectares of land of Banke and Bardiya districts and also produce 48-megawatt electricity. The construction of the 12.2 kilometers long tunnel was constructed with the use of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for the first time in Nepal. Under the second package of the project, the dam and powerhouse will be constructed.

GORKHA, Feb 13: The national pride project, Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, has distributed a total of Rs 28.18 billion to acquire private land. According to the project officials, the amount for the acquisition of 45,777 ropani of land in Gorkha and Dhading districts belonging to 21,159 households has been released.

We live in a democracy wherein people and people’s representatives should discuss and debate matters of national interest, but I believe our debates should be based on facts and evidence. Here is something for which the government of K P Sharma Oli can take credit, though his administration alone may not have contributed to it. The construction of 12.2-kilometer long tunnel of Bheri-Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project, a major component of Nepal’s national pride project, is almost complete and this is happening a year before the deadline and without raising additional budget costs.
