TANAHU, March 5: Bhanu Municipal Executive has decided to keep the Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Birthplace Development Committee under the federal government’s jurisdiction.

A total of 14, 36,400 landless squatters and unorganized settlers have submitted applications with the National Land Commission (NLC) demanding for land ownership certificates. KATHMANDU, Dec 2: The National Land Commission (NLC) has said works are going on to collect and verify details of landless dalits, landless squatters and those residing unsystematically. According to NLC Vice-Chair and Spokesperson Nahendra Khadka, though such works were suspended for a certain time with the enforcement of the Election Code of Conduct, they will resume very soon.

Resolving the Squatter Problem

No solution to this problem can be found through violence. Winter has already set in and in such a situation, it doesn’t appear a wise decision to forcefully bulldoze the squatters’ settlements.
