5 more police officials suspended

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the police headquarters to suspend five police officials involved in investigating the rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl in Kanchanpur with effect from Saturday accusing them of negligence.

KANCHANPUR, Aug 27: Superintendent of Police Kuber Kadayat has concluded that the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta, 13, was planned. "Nobody can rape and murder someone in broad daylight when there's ample movement," he said, "We believe that the rape and murder was preplanned."

KANCHANPUR, Aug 25: Police have arrested Babita Bam and Roshani Bam, alias, Achal for their alleged involvement in the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta, 13, according to newly appointed chief of the district police, SP Kuber Kathayat.

Curfew lifted in Mahendranagar

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The 12-hour curfew imposed in Mahendranagar from Thursday evening has been lifted. The District Security Committee lifted the curfew at 6 AM today. A curfew was clamped from 5 PM yesterday.
