KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal on Sunday night left for Chile to take part in the 88th INTERPOL General Assembly scheduled for October 15-18.

MAHENDRANGAR, Sept 8: Inspector General of Police, Sarbendra Khanal, on Friday admitted that there were “some lapses” on the part of the police while investigating the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta. The police chief also vowed to book the culprits, whatever the costs.

KANCHANPUR, Sept 8: When IGP Sarbendra Khanal suddenly turned up at Nirmala Panta’s house on Thursday evening, her father was not at home. Durga Devi, the mother, and the other two daughters were very surprised and did not know what to say. Durga Devi had grown used to narrating Nirmala’s rape and murder to everyone who visited the family, and she did the same thing again in front of the police chief, she said.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sarbendra Khanal is scheduled to visit Kanchanpur on Thursday while the high-level task force formed to investigate the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta demanded to send a special investigation team.
