SURKHET, July 5: The health workers of Birendranagar in Surkhet have not received their salaries and allowances for eight months. Health workers employed at the Health Branch of Birendranagar Municipality and other health posts have not been deprived of their salaries for the past eight months.

ROLPA, March 7: Health posts and hospitals in Rolpa are not well-equipped. The shortage of medicines and doctors here often make the headlines. As the news of the spread of coronavirus across the world is making rounds, locals in the rural areas of Rolpa have raised concerns over the poor health facilities they have. They have urged the government to avail sufficient medicines at the local health units and the district hospital. On the other hand, health professionals in the district hospital have also lamented the inefficiency of the hospital and health units.

New mothers deprived of allowances

ROLPA, Dec 15: Tussles between health workers and patients are not unusual at Pang Health Post in Lungri Rural Municipality. Patients vent out their anger against the staffers for the lack of beds, doctors, or medicines. Of late, new mothers are seen complaining about the lack of allowances. Even though they are entitled to get Rs 2,000 for delivering a baby at government-run health institutions, new mothers here have not received it for some time.

BAJURA, Nov 28: A total of four nursing mothers have died of postpartum complication in Bajura in the first four months of the current fiscal year. Of them, two died in the hospital, while two lost life at health posts, according to a source at Bajura District Hospital.

JUMLA, Oct 23: Utter negligence and mismanagement of drug supply has come to the fore in Jumla. While the lack of medicines in health posts and hospitals is not a new tale in this rural zone, locals are enraged after seeing medicines dumped on riverside in Kakan Sundari Rural Municipality.

MUGU, Oct 23: Safe motherhood is still a challenge in several rural parts of the country and health posts are struggling to have equipments necessary to offer quality services in the area. However, it has been learnt that neonatal and maternal care equipments are gathering rust at some health centers in Mugu.

DOLAKHA, July 24: Number of people visiting health post to collect free-of-cost condoms has drastically declined. Following this, a health post in Dudhpokhari of Sailung Rural Municipality-1, a remote village in Dolakha, has stopped making them available for the locals.

BAJURA, June 27: The government has adopted a policy to provide pregnancy allowance and warm bags to those who undergo delivery at health posts. But, nursing mothers in rural areas have been deprived of this facility although the government has been promising an additional amount and transportation allowance to them immediately after delivery.

KHOTANG, Jan 31: Bhupendra Rai, chairperson of Chuichumma Rural Municipality - 1 has faced many problems in life. Most of them are related to his visits to health centers. During emergencies, Khotang locals never had access to health facilities on time, he reminisces. Over the years, health posts opened up in villages and relieved the residents.

RASUWA, Dec 9: Uttargaya Rural Municipality of Rasuwa has recently established health posts in all of its five wards indicating the importance it has given to public health.
