KATHMANDU, June 23: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that special priority has been given to the provinces lagging behind on the Human Development Index (HDI) while apportioning the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, May 24: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the budget for the upcoming fiscal year would be allocated by keeping Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Madhes, the provinces which are backward in terms of Human Development Index (HDI) at the center.

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: While Nepal improved its ranking from 144th to 143th position, the Human Development Index (HDI) value has marginally declined from 0.604 to 0.602 due to continued turbulence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Human development should be seen as an extensive, innovative, appreciative and community procedure, rather than a simple expansion of health, education and income. The developing world should focus on constructing the basic human capabilities for a rational development. Human development is the key theoretical measure of socio-economic progress.

KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Nepal inched up to 147th position in human development index (HDI) in 2018, up from 148th in 2017, showing the slow progress in human development front.
