Resident doctors call off protests

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: National Residential Doctors' Association, Resident Doctors Association of Nams and Junior Resident Welfare Society have withdrawn all their protest, on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC said on Monday he would stage 16th hunger strike if his demands are not implemented by the government within a three-week deadline.

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Dr. Govinda KC has demanded that the government amend the new Muluki codes and not introduce laws which curtail the freedom of expression.  Dr. KC has also urged the government to prevent the influence of mafia while granting affiliations to colleges from the Agriculture and Forestry University.

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Majority of the lawmakers at a parliamentary committee have stressed the need for implementing the deal signed between the government and Dr Govinda KC and bringing the Medical Education Act in line with the agreement. However, a few lawmakers insisted that the new act should not infringe upon the rights of the provinces.

JUMLA, Aug 17: It has been almost a week since the government of Karnali Province formed a taskforce to investigate into police brutality against supporters of Dr Govinda KC at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS). However, much to the disappointment of Jumla locals, the taskforce has yet to begin its investigation.
