In response to these incidents, the relatives of the deceased children have resorted to vandalism, resulting in damage to the hostel and setting fire to the Usha Bal Vatika Secondary School.

One dies in tractor accident

BIRENDRANAGAR, Jan 3: A person was killed when a tractor (Bhe 2 Ta 1157)  en route to Surkhet from Dailekh met with an accident. The tractor driver Bhuvan Shahi, 21, of Mahavu Rural Municipality-5, Birendranagar died in the accident.

KATHMANDU, Oct 23:. Two people were injured when an explosive device went off in a community forest of Birendranagar Municipality-7.

SURKHET, May 23: Mayor Dev Kumar Subedi of Birendranagar Municipality delivered medicines to patients infected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease at their own homes. Earlier, the municipality administration had prepared a “Corona Kit” including Paracetamol, Jeevan Jal, Azithromycin, Vitamin B and C, soap, toothpaste, and a brush for the patients.

BIRENDRANAGAR, April 11: Stating that the rice distributed by the local government is not edible, some locals in Birendranagar have returned it. Birendranagar Municipality – 10 had recently distributed rice, salt, oil and pulses to over a dozen families in Manikapur block of the ward. According to the beneficiaries, the rice was rotten and stinking.

SURKHET, March 25: Local authorities have rescued altogether 100 Nepali nationals including three minors who were stranded at Rupaidiha and Gaddachauki areas along the Nepal-India border after the government imposed a nation-wide lockdown from Tuesday.

SURKHET, March 6: Surgical masks are not being available to buy in medicals and pharmacies in Birendranagar – the headquarters of the Karnali Province.

BIRENDRANAGAR, Jan 29: Birendranagar market remained tense throughout the day on Monday following the death of one Keshar Singh, 20, of Muhabai Rural Municipality of Kalikot. The local administration has imposed an overnight curfew to bring the situation under control. The curfew will be in effect in the market area from 6:30 pm Monday to 6 am Tuesday.

SURKHET, Nov 27: Despite the announcement of accident insurance for almost two million citizens, the Karnali Province government has failed to implement its declaration.

SURKHET, June 1: A big fire broke out in Birendranagar, Surkhet as Koteshwar Tyre Resoling Center in the city caught fire on Thursday morning. According police, the fire started because of short circuit at 5 am in the morning.
