KHOTANG, Feb 18: A youth has been arrested on the charge of an attempted rape in the district.

Police arrested 30-year-old Min Bahadur Puri, Bakachol-7, for attempting to rape a teenage girl while she was walking to her school on February 15.

“We rushed to Juledanda jungle after hearing screams calling for help. When we reached the incident site, we saw the 12th grader being overpowered by Puri. He was trying to remove her clothes with an attention of raping her while the girl was struggling to free herself,” said a local.

According to the victim, Puri advanced to her and started groping around her body to rape her while she was walking to school alone in the Jhuledanda jungle of.

The victim is at the District Hospital, Diktel for medical checkup.

Police are investigating the case after taking the perpetrator under control, DSP Manoj Yadav told Republica Online.
