Know MoreKATHMANDU, Nov 20: Youth Advocacy Nepal (YAN) in partnership with ActionAid Nepal organized a five-day long ‘Youth Democracy Camp’ at Kotdanda in Lalitpur. The camp, which concluded on Saturday, was aimed at educating youths about theories and practices of democracy as well as their roles in promoting and strengthening democratic practice in the country, said Naren Khatiwada, president of YAN.
Around 30 participants from various professional backgrounds participated in the democracy camp where they were taught about human rights, various models of democracy, good governance, local governance process and role of media in strengthening democracy.
Similarly, they were also trained about various tools and techniques of advocacy and lobbing, according to the organizer. “Unlike a typical training session, this has become a learning camp for me with a lot of group works, play and lectures, which I believe will change my behavior and perspective toward democracy,” said Shardda Pradhan, a participant at the camp.
