Yadav, 39, was shot dead by a group of three armed men at noon on Saturday while he was returning home to Bishrampur-4 from Chandranigahapur on a motorcycle, police said. Yadav was also a member of the Bhojpura State Committee.
According to Samir, a member of the committee who had reached the incident site, Yadav received two shots to his head and one to his arm. Samir suspects police could also be involved in the attack as a police station is just 200 meters away from the incident site and the in-charge of the station could not be contacted when the incident happened. Eye witnesses said that the three fled toward the Bagmati River after killing Yadav.
Meanwhile, the Tarai Mukti Morcha has called local journalists on the phone and claimed responsibility for the killing. According to family sources, Yadav is survived by his wife and five children.
District Police Office said that police personnel have been deployed in large numbers in and around the incident site.
