KATHMANDU, July 17: Chairperson of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Upendra Yadav, said that coalition partners don’t need to resign as long as Prime minister KP Sharma Oli rules from Baluwatar and Chyasal.

Taking to Facebook on Thursday, Yadav made the remark in response to growing calls for the resignation of Land Management Minister Balram Adhikari.

“Rest assured, Minister Balram Adhikari doesn’t need to resign. As long as ‘Ba’ reigns over Baluwatar and Chyasal, his fellow caste-group partners are free to do anything,” Yadav wrote.

Yadav accused the ruling establishment of forcing Rajkumar Gupta, former Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, to resign simply because of his Madhesi background.

“Gupta, who recently resigned, belongs to the Madhesi community. They forced him out. Had he been from the same caste group as ‘Ba’-protector of brokers, commission agents, and corrupt figures, he would still be sitting in office even after a bigger scandal,” Yadav said.

He pointed out that Minister Adhikari is also linked to Gupta’s case and the leaked audio scandal, which is widely available in the media. “Despite this, ‘Ba’ and his caste-group remain silent,” he added.

Yadav further alleged that the prime minister would have immediately demanded resignation had a Madhesi, Tharu, Dalit, or indigenous person been involved in the same controversy as Adhikari.

“If anyone from those communities were in Adhikari’s place, ‘Ba’ would not have wasted a second before ordering their resignation,” Yadav stated.
