TEHRATHUM, March 17: The X-ray machine at the primary health post at Sakranti Bazar in Terhathum district is lying unused for the last seven years for lack of a skilled operator.
The locals of Aathrai Village Municipality area where Sakranti Bazar is located have also bought a generator for running the X-ray machine on their own initiatives. But their hope of getting the X-ray service at their locality has died for lack of a person to operate the machine.
The medical staff at the health center tried their hand to operate the machine but they could not.
As a result, the people of a dozen settlements in the area are compelled to travel to Phidim in the neighbouring district of Panchthar or as far as to Jhapa for undergoing X-ray examination, by paying hefty transport fare. RSS
