Workshop on use of social media

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: A workshop on the topic ‘How to effectively use social media to make an impact’ was held at Aryal International Hotel, Kathmandu on Wednesday as a part of US Embassy Youth Council’s program.

The workshop saw participation of young writers from different fields and backgrounds. According to the press statement released by We Inspire Nepal, the three-hour long workshop was led by Deborah Potter, who is a veteran journalism trainer, reporter and writer, also the founder of NewsLab - a non-profit journalism resource center, in 1998, and is a contributing correspondent to Religion and Ethics Newsweekly on PBS.

The workshop included lessons on various social media tools and techniques to make participants better understand its usage, and to make content more effective, genuine as well as widespread. The workshop also enhanced the attendees’ skills on usage of social media and the intensity of impact that it can create.

The US Embassy Youth Council program is being implemented by We Inspire Nepal (WIN) – an NGO that aims to strengthen people, communities and society, and is led by a team of young professionals with expertise on behavioral change communication, soft skills empowerment and on other diverse areas.
