PUNE, Aug 5: A 22-year-old worker from Nepal died of burn injuries that he suffered in an explosion at a manufacturing firm in Maval taluka of Pune district, said the police.


Police said the deceased—Ajaykumar Bajrangiprasad Maurya— lived on the premises of a company that manufactures vehicle spare parts in Parandwadi.

Police said that on Thursday, Maurya used some chemical substance to ignite a chulha (stove) to cook food on Thursday. But the substance exploded, leaving him with severe burn injuries. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, and underwent surgery before succumbing to injuries on Saturday.


Police said that a case of accidental death had been registered at Shirgaon police station, and further inquiry has been initiated.
