Women keep their ornaments as collateral to help build road

MYAGDI, Dec 17: Fed up of the local authority's cavalier attitude towards the expansion of a road at Bhakimli-5 in the district, a total of 13 local women have taken matters into their hands to help build nine kilo meters of road to their village. 



The women associated with the 'Ama Samuha' kept their golden ornaments as collateral at a local development bank and collected Rs 1.2 million for the expansion of the road. 



Although the expansion of the road costs Rs 5 million, the women's financial contribution gave impetus to this development work, shared Road Construction Users Committee Secretary Dek Bahadur Gharti Magar. 



Ama Samuha's Chair Man Kumari Pun explained that the women prioritized the expansion of the road which would provide them an easy connectivity to the nearest road. 



The construction of the road was halted due to financial constraints since long period. With the women's generous support, the office of the VDC also provided Rs 500,000 for the same. RSS
