Women Entrepreneurship Summit on March 1

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Nepalese Young Entrepreneur Forum (NYEF), US Embassy in Kathmandu and Nepal-US Alumni Network (NUSAN) are jointly organizing Women Entrepreneurship Summit in Kathmandu on March 1.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday, the organizers said that the summit aims at discussing challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and providing them a platform to find solutions.

The event will cater for targeted individuals that come from different sectors and will mostly comprise of students and young professionals, according to organizers. 

With the theme “Connect, Collaborate, Create”, the event has set an objective of empowering women entrepreneurs by assessing the prevalent problems of the business ecosystem in Nepal and creating a networking platform. The daylong event will have inspirational stories session, workshops, stall displays, panel discussion and special networking session, among others, the organizers shared in the press meet.

Minister for Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada will be the chief guest at the event while US Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry will be the guest of honor.

Speaking at the press meet, NYEF President Ajay Shrestha said that there will be sessions that aim at enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of over 200 participants. The summit has given utmost priority to facilitate links and networks among women entrepreneurs and build connections with the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem, he added.

“Through our collective effort and past events, we have been able to bring a change in landscape in policy level discussions,” he said. He added that the women role in entrepreneurship is a major factor that is considered in policy level discussion.

Laxmi Bank, which is sponsoring the event, will launch special loan scheme for women entrepreneurs to strengthen their businesses, according to the organizers.
