KATHMANDU, Oct 1: A 21-year-old woman in Humla who had earlier recovered from COVID-19 has contracted the virus again.

She was the first person to be diagnosed with COVID-19 in the district.

According to the District Administration Office, Humla, the girl from Goti Village of Sarkedada Rural Municipality was re-infected with the virus. “She had arrived in Humal on Sept 19 via Nepalgunj.”

As many as 41 individuals had undergone COVID-19 testing. Of them, the test results of one came positive.

There are currently three active cases of COVID-19 in Humla.

Scientists say that a reinfection of COVID-19 should not be possible as a recovered patient develops sufficient antibodies. However, news on COVID-19 re-infection has been reported time and again across the globe.
