KATHMANDU, Sept 18: A woman has been murdered in Barbardiya Municipality-5, Tarkapur, Bardiya. The victim is Meena Tharu, 39, from the same area.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tulsi Ram Aryal from the District Police Office, Bardiya, Meena Tharu was murdered by around 40-year-old Shiva Prasad Tharu (Pappu) of Ward-11, Barbardiya Municipality, at around 12:20 AM last night.

He went to Meena's house and attacked her on the head and neck with a sharp weapon.
She was taken to Barbardiya Municipal Hospital, Jainagar, for treatment, where the doctors declared her dead.
After the murder, the police arrested Shiva Prasad Tharu, who had fled, from Barbardiya Municipality-5.
DSP Aryal stated that the motive for the murder is not yet known and that an investigation is ongoing.
