CHITWAN, Aug 21: A woman has died during a uterus biopsy at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan. According to the hospital's Information Officer Gopal Paudel, 39-year-old Samjhana Kalfe, a resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12, died while being administered anesthesia for the procedure.
Doctors were preparing to perform surgery and take a biopsy due to cysts in her uterus. However, Paudel mentioned that the deceased woman had a pre-existing heart condition. Despite being moved to the ICU when her condition worsened, she could not be saved, he added.

The woman was admitted to Bharatpur Hospital on August 20 for surgery on a uterus cyst. She was taken to the operation theater at 9 AM on Tuesday, but she died without regaining consciousness after being sedated.
Paudel stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing. The relatives of the deceased have accused the hospital of gross negligence in her treatment.
Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav informed Republica that the incident is currently under discussion at the District Administration Office, Bharatpur.
