SYANGJA, April 4: A woman in Syangja committed suicide Tuesday apparently after delivering a child out of wedlock.

Sneha Adhikari, 22, of Bhirkot Municipality-7 committed suicide probably after killing her own child. 

Locals had reported to police after they found the dead body of a girl child in the field of a local, Gambar Bahadur Adhikari. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nabin Krishna Bhandari who is also the spokesperson of the District Police Office (DPO), Syangja informed Adhikari must have committed suicide after finding out that police had recovered the dead body of the child. 

After finding her hanging by her own shawl at her home, locals rushed her to Waling Primary Health Center, but the doctors pronounced her brought dead.

After searching the area where the child's body was found, a team of police deployed from Dahathum police post discovered that the baby was delivered at the farmhouse of one Beg Bahadur Adhikari.

He was handed over the body of the deceased woman and her child. Their final rites were performed after postmortem. The DPO has intensified investigation into the case to find out further details.
