With new 278 coronavirus cases today, Nepal's COVID-19 tally jumps to 2912

KATHMANDU, June 5: Ministry of Health and Population reported new 278 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours in various parts of Nepal.

With this, Nepal's COVID-19 tally surged to 2912 on Friday, according to Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population. 

"Of the infected, 2717 are males and 195 are females," the spokesperson told a daily press briefing. 

Likewise, 43 COVID-19 patients from various parts of the country returned home after recovery today alone. 

Meanwhile, spokesperson Devkota informed that Nepal's COVID-19 death toll climbed to 11 on Friday. A 20-year-old youth from Panchapuri Municipality-1, Hansegaun, in Surkhet district has succumbed to COVID-19 infection, according to him. 

The young man had returned home earlier on Wednesday after staying at a quarantine facility for 14 days. He, however, died on Thursday morning at 2:15. His swab samples collected after his death tested positive for the virus via the PCR method.
