With 425 new cases of coronavirus in last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally soars to 5,760

KATHMANDU, June 14: Nepal has reported 425 more cases of novel coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours.  With this, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients has reached 5,760. 

Of the total confirmed cases, 5,324 are male patients while 436 are females. With Rukum [East] reporting the first COVID-19 case, a total of 73 districts have witnessed coronavirus infection as of today.

During the regular media briefing of the Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday afternoon, the spokesperson for the ministry, Dr Jageshwor Gautam, said that 61 more patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 55 are males and six are females. As of Sunday, 974 COVID-19 patients have returned home so far after recovery.

According to Gautam, the country’s COVID-19 death toll jumped to 19 on Sunday as a 36-year-old patient from Dhurkot Rural Municipality-4, Gulmi succumbed to this viral infection on Saturday evening.  The man had returned from India recently. He was a heart patient.
