With 354 new cases in past 24 hours, Kathmandu Valley’s COVID-19 tally surges to 7,900

5,756 people have contracted the virus in the Valley since August 20 

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The daily count of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Kathmandu Valley hit 354 in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 290 more people were diagnosed with this viral infection in Kathmandu while Bhaktapur and Lalitpur recorded 32 cases each in the last one day.

With this, the total number of people infected with this viral pandemic has climbed to 7,900 in the Valley, which is 17.07 percent of the total cases across the country.  Of the total confirmed cases so far in the Valley, Kathmandu district alone has witnessed 6,334 cases while 887 in Lalitpur and 679 in Bhaktapur have been diagnosed as of Sunday, according to the health ministry Spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam.

Since the district administrations in the Valley, which is also the federal capital of the country, went for prohibitory orders earlier on August 20, as many as 5,756 cases have been reported in the Valley.

During a virtual media briefing by the ministry, Spokesperson Dr Gautam shared that 980 new cases of the viral infection were confirmed across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the national tally to 46,257.
