With 116 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, Nepal's COVID-19 tally surpasses 17,000-mark

KATHMANDU, July 14: The Ministry of Health and Population said on Tuesday that 116 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed across the country in the past 24 hours.

At a virtual media briefing, spokesperson for the ministry Jageshwar Gautam said that 116 new cases were recorded during tests conducted at various 25 health labs across the country.

"With new cases detected in the past 24 hours, the total cases of coronavirus infections stand at 17, 061," Gautam said.

34 patients who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. "As of today, 10,328 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery," he said.

Gautam shared that there are currently 6,695 coronavirus patients undergoing treatment in various health facilities across the country.

"4,361 persons underwent COVID-19 tests through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method in the past 24 hours," he said.

As of today, 2, 93,739 persons underwent COVID-19 tests through PCR method in various health facilities around the country.

The country's COVID-19 death toll stands at 38, according to the health ministry spokesperson.

Likewise, 24,716 persons are in various quarantine facilities across the country, he said.
