With the fourth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) just round the corner, hopes are getting rekindled that the Rohingya refugee crisis will be addressed in the summit.
Experts have said that member states including Bangladesh will raise the issue and press Myanmar to sort out the Rohingya issue.
Over 1 million Rohingya people have been taking shelters across the world – with around 700,000 in Bangladesh alone.
The United Nations has described the brutal crackdown carried out by the Myanmar army on the Rohingya population as ‘textbook ethnic cleansing’.
