Be on the lookout for a Viren Khanna party on Saturdays. They have a Facebook page which keeps you up to date with their latest parties and these usually take place in hotels like JW Marriott, The Lalit Ashok hotel and Vivianta by Taj to name a few.

The capital city of Karnataka state, towards the south of India, Bangalore is also known as the garden city. Popular for shopping and nightlife, it is also one of the biggest abroad studies destinations for Nepalis students. Due to its high elevation, Bangalore has a moderate climate throughout the year. However, summers are sometimes uncomfortable due to the heat wave. If you are thinking of heading to Bangalore in the near future, here’s the information you will need.

How to get there
There are direct flights from Kathmandu to Bangalore on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. You can get tickets at the Nepal Airlines Corporation counter in New Road. The cheapest roundtrip fare will be around Rs 22000. You can also opt to take a bus to Delhi and take a train from there. This will be a cheaper option but it will take you longer to reach your destination. Reliance travels can assist you with any of your ticketing needs.

While there
Being one of the major cities in India, there are many things you can do in Bangalore. From one of the most exciting nightlife to a great shopping and dining experience, Bangalore has it all.

Nightlife
Indiranagar is one the best place to be in Bangalore, by day or by night. With places like Warehouse and Cirrus and other bars and clubs close by, bar hopping becomes convenient and fun. While you are there, make sure you go to Cirrus on a Wednesday night to be a part of the longest running ladies night in the country. Be on the lookout for a Viren Khanna party on Saturdays. They have a Facebook page which keeps you up to date with their latest parties and these usually take place in hotels like JW Marriott, The Lalit Ashok hotel and Vivianta by Taj to name a few. Although many places close by 1 am, there are a few places that have after parties. Most people frequent Salt located in Whitefield. For people who love a quiet night in, there are lots of bars around town. The Three Monkeys in Old Madras Road and Toit are beer breweries that you shouldn’t miss while you are in Bangalore.

Shopping
Bangalore is one of the most famous shopping destinations in India. From amazingly low priced factory outlets to high end designer showrooms, this city has got it all. Brigade road is the place you want to be for all your shopping needs. Shops like Aldo, Van Heusen, Nike, Mango, Allen Solly co-exist with places like the Dubai Plaza, which has relatively cheap products from North India. While in Dubai Plaza, speak Nepali to try and get a good bargain.

20 minutes walk away from brigade road is the commercial street. The main street is full of high end designer shops, and the little gallis that interconnect with one another have small shops with quirky bags, jewelries and shoes. A whole day won’t be enough to look at everything and buy whatever you fancy (and don’t really need). Be careful in these streets and bargain as much as you can, because the same thing can be differently priced at two different stores.

One of the best malls in Bangalore is in Whitefield and is the Phoenix Mall. Stores like Zara, Marks and Spencers, Sephora etc. are located in this mall. The topmost floor of the mall even has a casual gaming section where you can take a hoverboard or a segway for a spin for a nominal fee.

The Garden City
Although it is known as the garden city because it is one of the greenest cities in the country with the roadsides lined with trees, it is also home to Lal bagh. The garden, which is spread across 240 acres of land, is home to more than a thousand species of flora and fauna. There are four gates that let you enter the garden and all four are connected to the city by bus routes, making it easily accessible. The garden itself is so large that you will need to get on one of the drive through tours in order to see all the major attractions. If you opt to walk, it will take almost 45 minutes to just reach the lake.

Where to eat
There is a lot of amazing food experiences waiting for you in Bangalore. Indiranagar, Kormangala and Kamanahalli are all peppered with amazing places to eat. You can get a fine dining experience in Indiranagar and Kormangala, with places such as Barbeque Nation, Truffles, Chili’s and Sotally Tober. Al Amanah café in Kamanahalli is known for its shawarma rolls and Tibet kitchen in KR Puram is one of the most sought after places in the city, with people traveling for an hour to sample their food. Their crispy honey chicken, along with their spicy chili sauce, is something you are least likely to forget.
