KATHMANDU, August 21: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala said Pradeep Giri was a fearless leader. Koirala, who reached Medicity Hospital to pay his respects to leader Giri on Sunday morning, said that Giri was a fearless leader who could speak his mind clearly. He said that the politicians of Nepal should learn something from Giri's simple life.

He said, “He was a fearless person. He was not worried what the party would think about him. Some call it chaotic, some say ideological, some say a little above the party, it is in its place and we have to learn how to live a simple life from him.”

Likewise, Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand said that Giri spent his lifetime to promote Nepali nationality and establish the people's rights. He mentioned that Giri played an important role in making the Nepali Congress inclusive. Minister Khand said that the entire country has suffered due to his death.

He said, “His commitment in Nepali politics was toward democratic socialism. He was a strong thinker of democratic socialism. His politics was philosophical. He continued throughout his life in taking the politics in the right direction, promoting the nationalism of Nepal and establishing the people's rights. He was an influential leader of Nepali Congress. He was a popular leader in his constituency as well. In order to include Nepali Congress, he emphasized that all castes, languages, religions, cultures should be given equal importance and place, and Nepali Congress has also accepted it. The country has also accepted it.”

Bagmati Province Chief Minister Rajendra Prasad Pandey mentioned Giri as a socialist thinker and studious personality. Chief Minister Pandey said that Giri was in favor of the development of the country by the Communists and the Congress together. He recalled that the movement was successful because of the unity of the Communists and the Congress against the Panchayat in the past.

Finance Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Janardhan Sharma mentioned that Giri was a star of Nepali politics. Giri was described as an honest politician who lived a simple life. Sharma recalled that Giri gave a profound explanation of democracy and socialism.

Nepali Congress leader Uday Samsher Rana mentioned that Pradeep Giri was a selfless leader. Saying that there was no greed in him, Rana said that Giri only wanted to pressure the government through parliament as an MP.

He also said that Giri was loved by the party workers very much and he used to win in the NC general conventions. Giri,75, died at Medicity Hospital at 9:30 PM on Saturday night. His body was kept at the party central office for last respects. His body is being cremated today.
