KATHMANDU, April 26: District Administrations Offices (DAOs) of the Kathmandu Valley have decided to enforce a prohibitory order in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts to contain further spread of the COVID-19 cases.
A meeting of the chief district officers (CDOs) of these districts held earlier on Monday took a decision to this effect, a senior government official told Republica.
Shopping during prohibitory order
Prohibitory order will come into force effective from Thursday. With the new rule coming into force, both public and private vehicles will be asked to stay off the road in Kathmandu Valley. While the government offices in the Valley will be operated only by half of the human resources and hotels and restaurants will have to provide home delivery services.
Officials, however, said that the draft proposal prepared by three DAOs in Kathmandu Valley is still being revised, according to sources at the DAO, Kathmandu. “We will unveil the decisions after holding consultation with the Home Ministry.”
Kathmandu Valley has turned into a COVID-19 hotspot as infection rate has seen a sudden spike in the past few days. According to the health ministry, as many as 1,498 new cases were detected in the Valley on Sunday alone.
