As a result of rainfall, minimum temperature, which was recorded at 8.5 degree Celsius on Saturday, is also expected to fall to as low as 4 degree Celsius by Sunday morning.
As always in winter, Saturday´s rainfall was caused by a storm coming from the west, which meteorologists dub as westerly disturbance.
"In the valley, this is the third rainfall of this year´s winter," said senior meteorologist Rajendra Shrestha. "As for the whole country, Saturday´s was the fourth round of rainfall." On Saturday, all 15 stations of the MFD recorded rains.
According to Shrestha, most parts of the country, including the Kathmandu valley, are likely to receive rainfall even on Sunday. "Intensity of rain may not be the same," said Shrestha.
"But, weather will remain cloudy throughout the country for the next 36 hours. From Monday onward, weather will be sunny in some parts, causing maximum temperature to go up significantly."
Along with rains, some hilly areas of the country also received snowfalls. According to Taplejung-based Republica correspondent Khagendra Adhikari, normal life has been affected by snowfalls in northern parts of eastern districts like Taplejung and Panchthar.
Weather expected to improve only after a few days
