KATHMANDU, July 19: An active monsoon wind is causing slight rainfall across the country since early morning on Sunday.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division stated that the monsoon is nearer to the low-pressure line in the country which will cause rainfall until Monday morning across the country.

According to meteorologist Nirajan Sapkota, the rainfall has been witnessed in some parts of all seven provinces today and it could continue in most parts in all provinces particularly in Province 2, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Province 5.

The Division has cautioned that heavy rainfall could occur in some parts from Monday morning as monsoon would be more active. Sapkota added that the rainfall more than average has been recorded in the year 2020 in the country.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer at National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Anil Pokharel, has cautioned that the risk of natural disasters including landslides and floods is higher this year as pre-monsoon rainfall is also causing landslides and has left the land fragile.
