KATHMANDU, August 18: CPN (Maoist center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has underscored the need for self-review and determination, citing the complaints that Maoists have forgotten their ‘revolutionary character and culture’ after the peace agreement was signed.

Speaking at the 24th memorial day of martyr Ram Vriksha Yadav held at the party's office in Paris Danda on Wednesday, Dahal announced the party’s central committee’s decision to rebuild the party. “We have all become individualists who focus on position and prestige. It needs to be reviewed,” he said. “Dedication to ideals, principles and class is needed at the moment,” he added.

Dahal announced that the party will go to the national convention to further enhance its ideology and enrich it even further. “There is a possibility of division and dissolution if we do not justify the issue but we will not let that happen. We will fight until the last moment with the support of our martyrs,” he said.

“The tendency to undermine the achievements of the party was seen within the communist party. We called it regression. The regression has been defeated for now. We saw a need to fight and revolt in a ruthless manner and rebelled against it,” Dahal said.
