Water level in major rivers starts receding

KATHMANDU, July 22 : The water level in major rivers across the country has started receding from Wednesday.


According to The Department of Hydrology and Metrology, water levels in rivers like Kankai, Kamala, Bagmati, Rapti, Babai, Mahakali, Karnali and Narayani have begun receding. However, the water level in Koshi has already crossed the danger mark as a result of the incessant rainfall starting Sunday.

In the past 24 hours, Kankai received 98.4 mm rainfall, Bairahawa received 64.5 mm and Galkot received 74.2 mm. According to the Department,  Province 5 and Gandaki Provinces are currently witnessing slight rainfall while Province 1, 2, 5, Bagmati and Gandaki Province are expected to receive heavy rainfall later today.


Most parts of the country witnessed slight improvement in weather condition on Wednesday.
