KATHMANDU, August 6: The water level in Koshi River has started to recede since this afternoon. Officials said the situation in Koshi River is now risk free now.

According to the Chief District Officer of Sunsari Indra Dev Yadav, the water flow in Koshi barrage is now 215,825 cusecs. He said the water level in Barah Chhetra has been measured even lower than that of Koshi barrage.

Yadav said all 33 gates of Koshi barrage have been left open. “As the water flow has also reduced in the area now, it can be considered risk free now,” he said.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the Meteorological Forecasting Division had issued a high alert notice, citing a fast rising water level in Koshi River.
